About Dr. Blair Schneider
Blair Schneider is a Research Project Manager with the Kansas Geological Survey and the CEO of ADVANCEGeo LLC. She received her Ph.D. (2017) and M.S. degree (2012) in geology with a concentration in geophysics from the University of Kansas and her B.S. in geology with a minor in historical archeology from James Madison University in 2009. She completed a postdoc at the KU Center for Teaching Excellence from 2017-2019, focusing on STEM Education.
Her geophysics work focuses on the application of near-surface geophysical methods for archaeological and forensic investigations. Dr. Schneider has worked at both prehistoric and historic archaeological sites across the continental United States. She has also worked with local law enforcement to assist with the location of human remains or other types of evidence.
In addition to geophysics, Dr. Schneider’s work also focuses on STEM Education and Broadening Participation in STEM. Her interests are primarily focused on developing strategies to both recruit and retain individuals into STEM fields.
Outside of work, Dr. Schneider’s hobbies include baking, gardening, and playing with her kid and dogs. She is an avid traveler and loves any opportunity to explore a new place.
